In the absence of Star Trek on the small screen and on the silver screen, fan productions are popping up all over the world. Productions are in various stages across the United States and has spread into Europe. These fan productions have been around for years i.e. Hidden Frontiers but have in the last few years been picking up steam. This past year, I discovered the world of fan films dedicated to Star Trek. Fans themselves produce these fan films. They produce these films for the love of Star Trek and not the money. They receive no assistance from Paramount so they pay for the production out of their pockets.
There are many of these fan films out there in existence and the list continues to grow. For those of you like myself that are gay, have you ever wanted to see an openly gay character on Star Trek or a gay relationship portrayed on a Star Trek film? Star Trek: Hidden Frontier has two openly gay characters who are in a relationship, who are portrayed by two gay men that are in a relationship off-screen as well.
